About Us
Welcome to Fljótsbakki
The owners of Fljótsbakki are Emil and Maria, who in September 2016 made an old dream come true when they bought the farm and haven’t been idle since. The have 2 cats, and a dog (Fluga) and this 12 beautiful rooms in the old cowshed, where they operate a farm-hotel alongside the traditional farming.
There they wish to give their guests the chance to get to know life on a genuine Icelandic farm in a homelike and cozy atmosphere and experience the tranquility of vast unspoiled nature.
Emil is an experienced traveler and for years he spent every summer driving around Iceland on his bus showing our country to travelers. Maria prefers the home environment and she has a deep passion for food and is known for unique skills in the kitchen.
At the farm, they place focus on sustainable living and the foundation to their cuisine is from their own farm.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in our little quiet shelter.
